Thanks to Broke Girl for bringing to my attention that I never explained the name change. Here is the deal. I originally named it Making Money Keeping Money and was running it under a blogspot address. When I decided to make the switch to self hosted WordPress I decided to change the name for a couple of reasons. One is that Making Money, Keeping Money is a long name. But the other, more substantial, reason is it better fits in with the rest of my blogs and my over all “brand”. For those who don’t know,  I have 3 other blogs in addition to this one!

NerdFamily Food – This is all the food we love and make. Also the occasional food show makes and appearance.
NerdFamily Things – This is where I write about the things we use and love from high heels to homeschool books. I also hold my giveaways over here.
The NerdFamily Blog – This is just everything else that goes through my crazy mind like politics, science, mommy stuff, tv, etc.

So now you see how much better it fits in now! But have no fear! How to Make Money and how to Keep Money is still my motivation!

I have a ton of coupons! This is one of my tools to save money. Unfortunately I wasn’t taking good care of my tools;). Between going to Stanford for surgeries and holidays, I had a giant grocery bag full of coupons.

I have always had a coupon organizer just to attempt to make sense of it all (and have previously blogged on the specifics of organizing). But I was keeping them in a box that was cumbersome to carry along with all the kids. So I had been eye balling the $1 check organizers that Target has been carrying. But I just hadn’t gotten around to doing anything about it. So I continued to exist with a messy box and a giant bag.
Well, we ended up decorating the organizers as a MOPS craft. It is a great cheap craft to do. It is just the little jewels with the glue already on them. I also hot glued a little ribbon to girlie it up;).

My friend Carli is a wedding photographer and she posted about an interesting site. It is called the Recycled Bride. You can sell or buy used wedding stuff. There is some high level (read expensive) stuff. Go check it out.

Ok, not all things are super bargains but they can be time savers. I just found out that you can order Amazon Gift Cards up to a year in advance and schedule their delivery. I love it because then you don’t have to remember or shop. Then your loved ones can shop their own shopping lists or someone else’s like Mine!

So you may ask, What does a piano have to do with Making Money or Keeping Money? Well, I got this piano off of my local Freecycle list (a yahoo group). I paid to have it moved after I had a friend look at it to make sure it has good bones. So for $110 I got a piano that had its first service in 1935.

Freecycle has been a great resource for me in both giving and getting. I obviously got a great piano but I have also gotten clothing and neat decor things. I have also gotten rid of stuff that I would have had to pay to haul. Things like a giant metal desk, the kind Salvation Army won’t take. I was having a baby shower, rearranged my living room and wanted it gone. They came and got it so it was a blessing to some one else who need a huge desk.

So here is my question for backwards day. How you would you all like your coupons and giveaways listed? My 2 ideas so far (and I am open to anything):

1)Put expiration dates/deadlines in the title.
2)Have them stickied on the top until expiration. My problem with this one that then all new posts (that aren’t giveaway alerts or coupons) will get lost.
